Hydro plant Lipno

Hydro plant is part of the Vltava Cascade. Its reservoir with an area of almost 50 km2 represents our largest artificial lake.

Waterworks Lipno originated in 1952 - 60. The retention of water used combined ground and gravity dam with a height of 26 m with the necessary hydro-technical facilities.
Itself hydroelectric power plant is located in an underground cavern air 65 x 22 m and a height of 37 m, broken-out at depth of 160 m below ground level in the vicinity of the dam. Water is supplied to the turbine two push steel shafts, diameter of 4.5 m and length of 160 m, through ball valves and drain is 3.6 km long underground tunnel exhaust, wide 8.4 mA high 7.8 m. The transport and technological equipment personnel underground tunnel used oblique angle of 45 °, 6.8 mA wide 9.7 m high.

The underground power station, commissioned in 1959, are placed in two fully automatic sets of Francis turbines and electrical equipment needed. The information is presented in clear form on 22 visually elegantly decorated panels, as well as through printed information leaflets and video DVD system (which is mainly devoted to the history and present of the hydro plant Lipno, there are other interesting movies with the energy theme). In the entrance area centers can peek into the engine room vista oblique freight elevator plant.

The dominant feature of the exhibition includes a model power documenting its appearance in 1959, ie. From the period immediately after the start of operation. This model, which was built twenty five years ago apprentices from CKD Blansko lay for years in the depository of the Český Krumlov museum. After the reconstruction has become a permanent loan as part of the museum exhibition.
