Hydro plant Lipno

Hydro plant is part of the Vltava Cascade. Its reservoir with an area of almost 50 km2 represents our largest artificial lake.
The contents of the tank. 309 million m3 of water is used to control perennial runoff.
Flow regulation to increase the minimum flow, reduce flood peaks and increased production at other plants Vltava Cascade. Water surface of the lake in a beautiful environment of Sumava, 44 km long and at its widest point to ten-is used for summer recreation, lake cruises and efficient fish-farming.
Green energy from water
Energy importance of plant Lipno I is the production of inexpensive, environmentally clean peak electricity usage and power control national energy system. Its very fast approaching at full capacity of 120 MW for 226 seconds and remote control from the control center at Štěchovice hydroelectric power to influence the power balance of the Czech electricity grid.
Waterworks Lipno originated in 1952 - 60. The retention of water used combined ground and gravity dam with a height of 26 m with the necessary hydro-technical facilities.
Itself hydroelectric power plant is located in an underground cavern air 65 x 22 m and a height of 37 m, broken-out at depth of 160 m below ground level in the vicinity of the dam. Water is supplied to the turbine two push steel shafts, diameter of 4.5 m and length of 160 m, through ball valves and drain is 3.6 km long underground tunnel exhaust, wide 8.4 mA high 7.8 m. The transport and technological equipment personnel underground tunnel used oblique angle of 45 °, 6.8 mA wide 9.7 m high.
The underground power station, commissioned in 1959, are placed in two fully automatic sets of Francis turbines and electrical equipment needed. Electricity from generators is led through the tunnel using cables to overhead transformers and substations. The ground area is also located 22 kV substation, which supplies the vast surroundings electricity.
Lipno has a "small power"
The second part of the complex flow of water plant II with one machine sets of 1.5 MW. It is an integral part of the plant Lipno I and serves mainly to balance the outflow from the top of the hydroelectric power plant. Kaplan turbine is equipped with a gradient of 10-4 meters.
To balance the flow was built tanks of 1.68 miles. M3 of water. The river was dammed by a combined 11.5 cubic meters high dam. The dam is equipped with the necessary hydro-technical device that allows you to control runoff, even if it sets hydropower plant is under repair. Water plant II is a fully automated, unmanned, remotely controlled from a control center at Štěchovice and from power plant Lipno I. Outside the continued production of a balanced flow allows Lipno II peak operation the plant Lipno I, wherein lies its main energy significance.
From the history of energy and Vltava
Due to the location of the information center in the attic space of two operating units of hydro plant Lipno I (in terms of objects, auxiliary operations and part of the building of 22 kV directly below the dam Lipno dam) the information is primarily focused on the history and present of our hydroelectric plants. On his coming but also interested in information regarding our entire energy company and CEZ Group.
Exposure has several thematically specified parts: Povltaví (prepared Vltava River Basin), construction of hydroelectric power plants Lipno I and Lipno II, their current operating environment in a picturesque corner of our country in power (Českokrumlovsko, Vyšebrodsko, near Lipno water basins and Lipensko) and a brief introduction of the most important towns in the region (Higher Brod, Lipno nad Vltavou, Frymburk Horni Plana). The information is presented in clear form on 22 visually elegantly decorated panels, as well as through printed information leaflets and video DVD system (which is mainly devoted to the history and present of the hydro plant Lipno, there are other interesting movies with the energy theme). In the entrance area centers can peek into the engine room vista oblique freight elevator plant.
The dominant feature of the exhibition includes a model power documenting its appearance in 1959, ie. From the period immediately after the start of operation. This model, which was built twenty five years ago apprentices from CKD Blansko lay for years in the depository of the Český Krumlov museum. After the reconstruction has become a permanent loan as part of the museum exhibition.
The icing on the cake is a system of industrial cameras showing the individual operating areas for mediation virtual tours of an authentic operation.
Where you can visit the Information Centre?
Information Centre of the hydro plant Lipno is a major part of the year available on an order (written, phone).
In the summer tourist season from 15 June to 15 September center is open daily 10 to 16 pm (last tour 15 hrs.).
Every hour on the hour for a group of 48 people showing movies, there is a functional model of the plant and dedicated professional explanation.
